Facet Injection

Posted by admin on May 29, 2014

Facet injection refers either to injection into these joints themselves or injection of anesthetic in close proximity to the nerves that carry the signal from these joints in order to diagnose or treat axial low back or neck pain.  With the latter approach, also known as medial branch blockade, this is essentially a purely diagnostic procedure that attempts to determine whether or not the facet joints are responsible for your low back or neck pain.  It is important to note that for this procedure, it is whether or not there is a response that matters most, and not necessarily the duration.  If there is a positive diagnostic response, radiofrequency ablation can be considered.
